Munchkin

Munchkin cats are instantly recognizable for their distinctive short, “Dachshund-like” legs and naturally long, typical cat-shaped bodies. Despite their small stature, these energetic felines are highly sociable, affectionate, and playful companions known for their curiosity, toy-collecting habits, climbing skills, and adorable tendency to sit upright on their hind legs like a “prairie dog.”

Physical Appearance

• Short Legs & Unique Build:
  Munchkins have naturally short legs caused by a genetic mutation, while their spine and overall body structure remain similar to other cats. They usually stand around 3 inches shorter than average cats.
• Size & Weight:
  They are small-to-medium cats typically weighing between 6–9 lbs (2.7–4 kg). They have normal-sized chests, shoulders, and balanced body proportions despite their shorter legs.
• Coat Variety:
  Munchkins come in almost every coat color, pattern, and length, including short-haired, long-haired, and various unique color combinations.

  Often described as “dog-like” cats or social butterflies, Munchkins enjoy being around people and frequently follow their owners throughout the home.

  Their short legs do not stop them from being active. They are fast, agile, curious, and love playing with toys, climbing, and exploring their surroundings.
